achieve glowing winter skin

BLOG POST

As the season changes and the temperature drops, it’s the perfect time to adjust our self-care routine to ensure our skin and body receive the nourishment it deserves. Freezing harsh winds, low humidity levels, and ever-changing indoor temperatures can wreak havoc on our skin, leaving it dull, dehydrated, and irritated. However, with a few simple adjustments, you can maintain a healthy, radiant glow throughout winter.

While we may add layers of cozy clothes in the cooler months, it doesn’t mean we should neglect our skin and bodies. Here are our best tips to winter-proof your skincare routine and maintain a glowing, hydrated, radiant complexion throughout the year.

1. Hydration is key

Cold weather often leads to dehydration, as outdoor elements and indoor heating systems strip the skin of its natural moisture. Although you may not feel as thirsty as in the summer heat, your body still needs adequate water to function optimally. Drink plenty of fluids, including water, herbal teas, and hydrating soups, to keep your body hydrated from within.

Additionally, moisturising your skin is vital to combat dryness caused by the cold weather. We love using macabalm as a mask by applying a thin layer all over your face in the evening. Leave it for an hour or wash it off in the morning to reveal that dewy, healthy glow.

2. Protect your skin from harsh elements

Winter weather, particularly cold winds and low humidity can be harsh on your skin. We've all experienced dry lips; some of us experience them more severely than others. With the healing properties of macadamia butter, paired with Kakadu Plum, macabalm is incredibly hydrating for the lips. It gives you that soft, desirable pout and protects you against dry, cracked lips.

And don’t forget your hands and cuticles. macabalm is perfect for those dry cuticles, cracks around your fingers and rough elbows, as it gives you an instant surge of moisture without leaving your hands or fingertips greasy.

3. Invest in organic

Our goal was to bridge the gap between an easy, everyday skin saviour and quality, responsibly sourced ingredients in a category lacking certified organic products and practices. Now we have a product that uses ingredients our ancestors have harnessed for centuries; healing, replenishing, soothing and regenerating skin and the environment as nature intended - without toxins. Your skin is your biggest organ; choose what you put on it.

4. Create a relaxing self-care routine

Winter is an ideal time to indulge in self-care activities that nourish your body and mind. Treat yourself to warm baths infused with soothing oils or salts, which relax your muscles and hydrate your skin. Consider incorporating meditation, yoga, or breathing exercises into your daily routine to reduce stress, as stress can impact your overall well-being and affect your skin health.

5. Keep to warm showers

In the winter, it's tempting to take long, hot showers for comfort. However, it's important to limit shower time and use lukewarm water instead of scorching hot. If your skin turns red, it's a sign that the water is too hot and should be cooled down to keep your skin healthy and happy.

6. Use a humidifier at home

During the winter months, using a humidifier can greatly benefit your skin as it helps to increase moisture levels in the air, which slows down the rate at which your skin loses moisture. This will keep your skin hydrated and supple throughout the entire season.
